Allopathic Medicine:

The term "allopathy" originated in 1842 to differentiate the usual practice of medicine from homeopathy. According to the NCI, allopathic medicine refers to a system in which physicians and other healthcare professionals treat symptoms and diseases using drugs, radiation, or surgery which produce effects different from those produced by the disease under treatment Also called conventional medicine, mainstream medicine, orthodox medicine, or Western medicine.

Traditional Medicine:

According to the WHO, traditional medicine is a comprehensive term used to refer to systems such as traditional Chinese medicine, Indian ayurveda and Arabic unani medicine, and to various forms of indigenous medicine. Therapies include medication therapies, if they involve use of herbal medicines, animal parts and/or mineral and non-medication therapies, as in the case of acupuncture, manual therapies and spiritual therapies.

Contemporary medicine developed from science-based information from Right-to-Left, whereas Ancient or Traditional Medicine developed from Left-to-Right.

Medicine in developed nations is quickly moving toward the Left to investigate other therapies and the adoption into mainstream when proven benefical.
